If connectivity is not an issue, then you can generate reports that consolidate data across your instances in a variety of ways without having to backup and restore databases to do it. Certainly if you moved them all to the cloud that would only become easier. You could support all 5 database on the same SQL Server instance. I have quite a few reports that combine data from AX, an AS/400, MySQL, and various other database instances in real time. However, I have yet to see a business case where moving to the cloud was overall less expensive than an on premise installation.
