Forum Post: RE: Budget amount on AX cubes

Hello ivan60000, From my perspective it is alway better having all budget data in AX than in separate Excel sheets that you upload directly into your cube. I mean what else would you expect as an answer from an AX consultant :-) (Please note that the budget planning functionality is actually also using Excel sheets to upload the budget data first into the AX budgeting module from where you can start doing your actual vs. budget analysis) Yet, where and how budget values are tracked depend on many things such as * Your budgeting process * Who is doing the budgeting (finance, accounting, CFO, sales, ...) * How many people are involved in the budgeting process * How many companies are involved in the budgeting process and whether all of those companies are run in AX * The analysis tools that you are using. Often companies use third party software for their actual-budget analysis and do not want that AX users see some of their "delicate" budget data * The time and effort required for bringing the budget data into AX compared to an direct cube upload * Whether you are using budget control in AX (in this case you have to bring your Budget data into AX first) * etc. I found that the question for 1) or 2) is often a highly "political" question that depends on many things that do not necessarily have something to do with AX and your analysis tools you are using. You can only clarify this with your colleagues and your AX/cube project sponsor. Hope those comments help you at least a bit in making your decision. All the best, Ludwig
