If the infrastructure was planned correctly and is not running on a coffee-maker then you should be able to take a full backup in approx 25 minutes on a traditional SAN, and even faster on a flash array. If you are not capping the throughput of the storage, you can choose to take full backups more frequently, ie. every 4 to 6 hours. You may want to take a full backup at least once a day in a maintenance window where it does not disturb the business, if IO is a problem. Take transaction log backups frequently, depending on your transaction volume it could be every 15 minutes up to 2 hours, which should free up available space in your log. The differential backup should be taken as frequently as your business feels comfortable with to recover at a point of time in case of a disaster.
